I’m a shopping expert – here’s how to get the best deals on Amazon Prime Day 2022

IT’S easy to get a bit confused in the mad rush of bargain hunting on Amazon Prime Day.

The two-day event offers shoppers the chance to snap up incredible deals on everything from Echo Shows and Kindles to Apple Airpods and vacuum cleaners.

Amazon Prime Day will take place on 12-13 July

It will take place on 12-13 July.

The event is a great chance for Amazon Prime members to snap up big savings on items across all categories.

But trying to work out if you’ve actually bagged yourself a bargain can be a little bit tricky.

Dubbed as “Britain’s Coupon Kid” and known for his bargain-hunting skills, Jordon Cox told SE that you can get the best deal by doing some research and being shopping savvy.

He explains his top four tips for Amazon Prime Day.

Keep an eye out for Amazon products

Thousands of price cuts will be rolled out over the two-day bonanza, with mega offers on Amazon’s popular own-brand devices among the highlights.

The online giant also offers various promotions around some of its most popular subscription services, such as Amazon Music and Amazon video.

“Prime Day is usually one of the cheapest times of year to buy Amazon products, such as Amazon Echo, Echo Show, Kindles and more,” said Jordon.

Don’t ignore older gadgets

Deal-hunters will have two days to look for the very best offers from Amazon.

Some of the most popular categories in previous years have been tech and gaming.

But Jordon says it’s important not to get distracted by the newest and flashiest models, when you could be missing out on a great deal on some slightly older devices.

He added: “In years past, it has been cheaper to buy items on Prime Day than Black Friday.

“But be aware that the biggest discounts will come on older generation tech.”

Don’t be caught out by quick deals

Lightning deals are one of the main draws of Prime Day with new offers popping up every few minutes.

The idea is to offer discounts on specific items for a limited time.

While they can help you to save money if you buy during the time frame, you could be drawn in to buying items you don’t actually need or want.

Jordon says its important to stay savvy and not jump at the first deal you see.

He said: “Don’t be sucked in by lightning deals, as there will be a lot of items on here that perhaps you don’t need.

“Avoid unnecessary spending if you can, and keep a list of the things you need.”

If you don’t need it in the first place, you’re not saving money buying it – you’re actually spending money you didn’t intend to.

Do your research

It’s important to always shop around and compare prices online to make sure you really are getting the best deal out there.

Jordon recommends using sites like CamelCamelCamel and Pricey Spy to look at price changes throughout the year.

They are handy tools for shoppers to check if the discount on a particular item is really worth it.

Jordon says: “Before you buy anything on Prime Day, it’s a good idea to check CamelCamelCamel.

“This is a price history tool that tells you what the price of any Amazon item has been in the past.

“This can tell you if the ‘Prime Day Deal’ they’re offering is a good one – or if it’s probably not the best time to buy.”
