Aldi goes on hiring spree and creates 1,000 jobs – and you could earn up to £20 an hour

DISCOUNT supermarket Aldi is going on a hiring spree that will see 1,000 new logistics jobs created this year.

The job boost will be welcomed by those looking for work during the cost of living crisis, which has seen households struggling to make ends meet.

Discount supermarket is expanding and is looking for new workers

Aldi, which is the UK’s fifth largest supermarket, currently has 960 stores and employs around 38,000 people.

But it is now looking to expand and some jobs up for grabs could make you up to £19.80 per hour.

Aldi is looking for people to work full-time and part-time in various logistics positions.

You’d be working in Aldi’s distribution, transport and maintenance teams at one of its 11 Regional Distribution Centres across the country.

You can use this map from Aldi to find out exactly where your nearest regional distribution centres are to see if you’d be able to commute in.

The jobs push comes as part of Aldi’s nationwide expansion – the supermarket is planning on creating 2,000 permanent roles across the UK this year.

Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK, said: “As we continue to grow and make Aldi accessible to even more shoppers, we need more amazing colleagues at our distribution sites across the country to make that possible.

“As well as market-leading pay and benefits, being an Aldi colleague means a great working environment and real opportunities to progress within the business.

“We look forward to welcoming even more great people to our distribution centres to become a part of our success.”

Morrisons is not the only supermarket to increase wages in recent months.

Asda will increase the hourly rate for shop floor staff to £10.10 per hour from July – an increase from £9.66.

And Tesco, the UK’s largest private employer, has said it will raise its hourly rates for store staff to £10.10 from July 24 – up from the £9.55 they get now.
