JOHN Lewis has yet to reveal when its iconic Christmas advert will be out this year.
But when is it likely to appear? We take a look as the Christmas countdown gets underway.

The John Lewis Christmas ad is a talking point every year
From excitable Edgar the dragon to Monty the penguin, there’s been a range of inventive adverts throughout the years.
Last year it was released earlier than ever – as it normally comes out in the second week of November – hitting screens on November 4 instead.
It was called The Unexpected Guest, and it featured a teenage boy who meets an alien named Skye who has crash landed on earth.
In comparison, in 2020, the advert first aired on Friday, November 13.
It was inspired by random acts of kindness during lockdown – in a nod to the Covid pandemic.
Its 2019 ad, which starred Edgar the dragon, was released on November 14.
This ad was the first joint-effort with John Lewis’ sister retailer Waitrose.
It followed the 2018 Elton John inspired advert, which aired on November 15 of that year.
It spanned the veteran singer’s life and showed how a gift of a piano from his grandmother helped make him the international superstar he is today.
And both the 2017 Moz the Monster and 2016 Buster the Boxer adverts came out on November 10.
Other Christmas ads
Of course, John Lewis isn’t the only retailer that releases festive adverts every year.
Last year, Asda released its Christmas advert on 4 November, featuring a family enter an Asda store before being transported through a series of traditional Christmas events.
It was released the same day as the John Lewis ad for that year.
In 2020, Asda’s came out on November 10. It followed a real-life family getting ready for the festive season by decorating their house and stocking up for Christmas Day.
Marks & Spencer also releases an advert yearly, with last year’s landing on November 4 also.
The Christmas clip, which starred Dawn French and Tom Holland, saw Percy Pig come to life and explore the treats on offer in an M&S food hall.
The year before, its advert came out on November 6 followed by a string of others, involving the voices of ten world-famous actors including Tom Hardy, Dame Helen Mirren and Eddie Redmayne.
In the first instalment, Oscar winner Olivia Colman, 46, talked about some of the posh nosh that was on offer that year.
A new one popped up each week until the New Year.
Boots, Aldi, Iceland and Argos are among other retailers who regularly put out Christmas adverts.
And last year tears were jerked over the Heathrow Christmas advert – which showed real passengers reuniting at Terminal 3.
