Asda shoppers furious over school uniform glitch as they lose out on discount

ASDA shoppers are furious over a school uniform discount glitch that has left them unable to cash in on a discount.

Some customers signed up to the Asda Rewards loyalty scheme have complained they have been unable to get £5 cashback on their uniform as part of an offer.

Shoppers signed up to the Asda Rewards loyalty scheme can earn vouchers to get them money off their bill.

You need to sign up to the Asda Rewards app by downloading it on your phone and uploading details like your name and email address.

Buying certain “star” items unlocks boosted discounts on offer.

There’s a barcode in the app that you can scan at the checkout when paying for your groceries, which then logs these cash rewards.

Your rewards are then put into a “cashpot” in your account.

The supermarket giant has offering a deal where you could get £5 put back into your cashpot if you spent £25 on George school uniform, stationary and lunchboxes.

Shoppers have until August 31 to get the discount – but some have complained of teething problems with the offer in the app.

Customers took to social media to say that even though they spent over £25 on uniform, they couldn’t get the deal.

One customer tweeted: “@asda can someone please help… I spent over £25 on school uniform but it says I’ve still got £4 to go till I reach my target on my rewards app…”

Another posted: “Who do I contact regarding Asda rewards? The school uniform I’ve purchased isn’t going on it & I’ve spent the £25 amount to get the £5 voucher.”

While one customer said: “I bought over £70 worth of school uniform and scanned the rewards app but haven’t got the£5 bonus? How does it work?”

One mum said she was having issues with the app on the Discount Codes’ Freebies and Glitches UK Facebook page.

She said she spent over £25 on uniform but it is still saying she needs to spend another £17.50.

“Second time I scanned it I bought another lunch bag and two bottles and today I’ve bought uniform,” she said.

Shoppers posted comments underneath that they were having the same issues too.

Asda was approached for comment.

What to do if you’ve been affected

If you’ve been unable to get the discount but have hit the minimum qualifying spend, the best thing to do is to ask Asda for help.

If you’re shopping in store, someone may be able to help you.

You should contact Asda’s customer service section too.

Their phone number is 0800 952 0101.

It could be worth trying to contact the supermarket over social media.

SE has spotted Asda’s customer services Twitter account replying to individual customers who have issues.

Asda isn’t the only supermarket to be hit by glitch issues.

Sainsbury’s shoppers were fuming after the supermarket refused to honour a price glitch that saw £50 electric toothbrushes cut to £2.50.

While Tesco shoppers complained last month that charges were added to their online orders incorrectly – leaving them out of pocket.
